Sensations differ depending on the style of acupuncture and the sensitivity of the patient. Common sensations include tingling,
heaviness, or warmth that subside after a few seconds. In general, acupuncture should be a calming and relaxing experience. Many people fall asleep or achieve a peaceful meditative state during their sessions. A typical session lasts about an hour.

Patients may feel the beneficial effects of acupuncture within a couple of treatments. However, the number of total sessions depends on a few factors including chronicity of the condition, patientÕs lifestyle, and frequency of treatment. Ideally, a patient is seen at least once a week for treatment, although sometimes more frequent sessions will be recommended, depending on the condition. Acute conditions often require more frequent visits over a shorter period of time, while chronic conditions require more treatments over a longer period of time.

Our needles are pre-sterilized, pre-packaged, one-time-use only. Needles are immediately disposed of after use. Acupuncture is an extrememly safe and virtually side-effect free therapy. Occasionally, slight bruising may occur which should resolve within a few days.

We do not bill insurance directly. We will be happy to provide you with an invoice for you to submit to your insurance company. Please check with your insurance company to determine what their policies are regarding acupuncture coverage.

Yes. There are non-insertive techniques that can be used such as magnets, press-balls, cupping, or moxibustion that are very effective to treat many pediatric conditions. These techniques can also be used as an alternative to needles for adults who are sensitive to needles.

Herbal treatment may be offered alone, or in conjunction with acupuncture. Chinese herbs are still used as front-line therapy in many hospitals in China. Single herbs are combined so that the treatment may be formulated to treat the individualÕs specific condition. A formula generally contains 3-25 different herbs. All the herbs used in this clinic are safe, and tested to be free of contaminants.
